President's Safety Award
For outstanding achievement in the prevention of on-the-job accidents, Nucor created the President's Safety Award. The criteria for winning are tough. Nucor divisions are compared to similar facilities at other companies around the nation. For a Nucor division to earn an annual President's Safety Award, it must post lost workday and injury/illness rates that are 67% lower than the national average. Despite these strict requirements, it's not unusual for half of our divisions to win an award.
