Nucor's corporate offices have been located in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, North Carolina since 1991. Nucor's original corporate office was relocated to Charlotte by Ken Iverson and Sam Siegel in 1966 with merely a card table, chairs, and a telephone. Over the years, corporate resources have evolved to match the demands of our business, but the clear eyed focus on fundamentals has remained unchanged. These fundamentals include our commitment to taking care of our customers, promoting the safest working environment, ensuring the highest quality products and the lowest costs, improving our productivity, increasing our profitability, and all of this while being cultural and environmental stewards in the communities in which we live and work.
Nucor has built itself as a highly decentralized and agile organization. Most of the decision-making authority is vested in the operating divisions, where capable employees are closest to the problems requiring solutions. Those matters that require some form of central coordination are managed out of the corporate headquarters. These would include executive management, environmental management, corporate finance, human resources, and tax to name a few.
