"We all worked through the night to complete the repair. It was one of the most challenging, exhausting and fulfilling experiences of my career." Never in my life, let alone four years out of college did I imagine having this much responsibility. But now that I have it, I can't imagine living without it. As a melt shop project engineer, I'm part of a 16-person team with one goal; keep the melt shop operating smoothly, so the mill can recycle steel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's a constant challenge, one we gladly accept. Because without the everyday challenges, the teamwork, and trust, we'd just be a bunch of guys waiting for the weekend. Instead, we're motivated every morning, ready to make a difference for a company that makes a difference in the world. To me, that's the most rewarding part of working for Nucor. Well, that and being paid extremely well. |
