that's a Nucor person."
Some people are just Nucor people. But I didn't know that until I left Nucor after my internship. They offered me a job; I thought I had a good reason not to take it, what seemed like a better position lured me to another steel company. My first day on the other job, I knew it was a mistake. The people were made of a different mettle. They weren't bad people, just accustomed to an unproductive culture. Lacking proper incentives, they preferred when the mill wasn't running. What'd they care? They still got paid. Not like at Nucor, where we are paid for performance and everyone gives 100%. So I went back to Nucor. And in just under four years, I've been promoted from metallurgist to day casting supervisor. Every day working with a team that feels just the way I do. We're Nucor people.
